Bible Studies
Our group Bible studies are facilitated by Laura Shaw. We have a very active study group with a variety of topics. We are currently engaged in the following studies:
Lenten Study: “He Chose the Nails” – by Max Lucado – Beginning February 17th
Tuesdays 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Zoom
In He Chose the Nails, Max Lucado observes that the last moments leading up to Jesus’ death were not left up to chance. God chose the path; he selected the nails. Our Lord planted the trio of crosses and painted the sign. God was never more sovereign than in the details of the death of his Son. And in those details are gifts Christ provided for us…the cross. The thorns. The nails. His seamless robe. The empty tomb.
God didn’t have to give us all these things, you know. The only required act for our salvation was the shedding of blood, yet he did much more. So much more.
Disciple II – Into the Word, Into the World
Mondays 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Zoom
This study proclaims the transforming power of Scripture while teaching Bible study skills that take participants deeper into the Scripture. The importance of keeping Bible study related to witness is reinforced while participants are encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines arising out of Scripture for the purpose of changing habits and transforming lives. The study also emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God, of being in the Word and in the world individually and corporately. This study understands the growing Christian as under discipline in community and in ministry to the world. Disciple: Into the Word Into the World approaches all experiences of life as opportunities for faithful witness and service and is a twenty-four week study.
