Current Needs
Bardsdale UMC ‘s ongoing expense as well as needed maintenance typically exceed our giving in every fiscal year. And yet, appeals for giving have always been greeted with love and generosity. Here are some of our recent accomplishments:
- Replaced Chapel roof
- Cleaned and repaired attic to prevent bat entry
- Installed new alarm system in the sanctuary building
- Cleaned, sealed, painted, and adjusted gutters to flow correctly
- Repaired stairway entry to church office
- Repaired water penetration in multiple locations by digging away from exterior surfaces and applying a waterproof membrane to seal.
- Repaired Bride’s Room ceiling where multiple layers of paint had pealed
Our current needs are to raise $50,000 for the following:
- Paint exterior of church and chapel ($24,000)
- Repair stucco damage on exterior of church
- Sand and paint all metal hand rails
- Sand and refinish the sanctuary entry door
- Reseal exterior perimeter of church where concrete walkways meet church walls
- Clean all stone in front of the church, patch and seal
- Repair plaster area at entry to basement and apply waterproof membrane
- Demo and replace one wall in Chapel where damage is present
- Repair Chapel ceiling with new ceiling tiles
In 1898 a local group of German Evangelical church members joined with their friends and neighbors to “Step Out in Faith” and build the carpenter gothic building we now know as Bardsdale United Methodist Church. Can you “Step Out in Faith” so that our children and grandchildren will have a modern, active place to meet, praise and learn about God and their place in his world.
